Attorney Sezen Ergen Breitegger LL.M.

Founding Partner – BD Lawyers

Sezen Ergen Breitegger is a founding and managing partner of Breitegger-Develioğlu Law Firm. A multilingual and senior lawyer, she is specialized in international trade law, intellectual property, corporate law, cross-border investments, and international arbitration.

After graduating from Saint-Joseph High School and Galatasaray University, she completed her master’s degree in intellectual property law at the University of Vienna with distinction under the Jean Monnet Scholarship awarded by the European Union. Before establishing the firm, she led the Turkish Desk at a prestigious law firm in Austria for four years, successfully overseeing complex legal and commercial processes bridging Europe and Turkey. Through this role, she gained substantial experience in coordinating intricate cross-border matters.

Beyond intellectual property, she is experienced in corporate law and dispute resolution. Drawing on her years in both jurisdictions, she has a deep understanding of the Turkish, Austrian, and broader European markets. She is particularly experienced in advising foreign investors on their investments in Turkey and continues to support investors on legal and operational matters. With her education and practice, she effectively helps international and Turkish clients mitigate risks and optimize returns.

At Breitegger-Develioğlu Law Firm, which she co-founded, she currently oversees the firm’s Austrian operations and leads large-scale, multinational projects along the Europe–Turkey axis. From cross-border mergers and acquisitions to international trade agreements, from investment projects to corporate restructurings, she confidently manages complex, high-volume, multi-stakeholder mandates. She has extensive experience providing long-term legal counsel on joint venture agreements, from establishment through governance.

International arbitration is among her core areas of expertise. She has acted both as counsel and as a strategic advisor in a broad portfolio of international disputes, successfully managing complex, high-value, and long-running arbitration proceedings. By sensitively bridging different legal traditions, she turns arbitration into a strategic advantage for her clients.

She is one of the few practitioners able to deliver legal services in English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. This linguistic breadth enables direct and efficient counsel among multinational parties across the full spectrum—from contract negotiations to dispute resolution.

Attorney Breitegger is a member of the Istanbul Arbitration Centre (ISTAC) Specialized Working Commission on Foreign Investments, the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) Young International Arbitration Group, and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Young Arbitrators Forum.
